I am back in Jakarta this week for work—moving between meetings in taxis, on public transport, and on foot. Having lived here for four years nearly a decade ago, and coming back regularly ever since, it is nice to come back to a familiar place.
The city is constantly moving. Looking at the streets, through the tree branches, and down at the kaki lima (street vendors) along the sidewalks, I think about the complexity of the interconnected contexts that shape daily life in this mega city.
