Venla’s Valentine Day

Family

It is Valentine Day here in the Philippines. It is a big day for the people in this country. It is afternoon. My daughter Venla is at home from school. Teachers spending time in their families as this is very much a family day. They are probably getting ready to go out to eat tonight. The busiest day of the year for the restaurants in Dumaguete, a restaurant owner told me once. We are in the garden. Sun is […]

Moonrise in Dumaguete

Diary

I was driving the car back home from the Robison mall. I decided to take a short cut and avoid the centre of the city. I passed on the bridge near the Chinese pagoda where the view of the sea is usually really nice. That night was even better. The moon had just risen. I stopped the car and luckily had my camera with me.

Silliman beach in black & white

Sea

Sunset at Silliman beach in Dumaguete, a photo by Arnaldo Pellini on Flickr. Went for my usual Sunday evening walk at Silliman beach, nearby our house here in Dumaguete. There was a great autumn sunset light that rapidly faded behind Mount Talinis behind the city and draw nice shadows on the beach and towards the sea. Took this picture handheld with a 35mm 1.8G at f20 lens from the north side of the beach.

Voglio […]

Season Greetings from the Philippines

Family

At times it is possible to find little gems in the little-screen-inflight-movie-world. The other day, while flying to Sydney, I watched Another Earth. It tells the story of an approaching planet which is the exact copy of our Earth. The planet is like a second moon and can be seen up in the sky. Since it is a copy of our planet, it is lived by copies of us (other us) whom we could eventually […]

Hidden people

Diary

It is 7:00 in the morning. Sunday morning. We have Dumaguete, Manila,Hong Kong, the skies on China and Russia behind us. Helsinki is like a ghost town. As if all its inhabitants would have suddendly left or would have all be taken away during the course of the night by a alien forces from an unknown dimension leaving behind broken glasses, empty McDonalds paper cups swept by the autumn wind on the pavement. We walk […]
