The first sunset of the year

The first subset of the year, Kontiola 2022

The first day of the year. I am bed with running nose and maybe some temperature. The home C19 kit test gave a Neg result. I asked my daughters to take some photos when they went cross country skiing on the lake. The light must have been magical.

In the cottage I watched a nice documentary about Italy at Euro 2020. Good memories and an emotional watching Gianluca Vialli reading to the team a quote from a book before the final.

I followed the Euro thread and searched for Gareth Southgate interviews post final and post tournament. I also found this interview at a conference in Cambridge several months after the defeat in the Euro final. It is quite inspiring. He is achieving something more than football wins.

And thank you V for the great photo you took for me. Nice start of the year.

Happy new year to all!

Reflections

Reflections, Ihamaniemi 2021

It was nice to go down to the shoreline the other night and look at the still water of the lake reflecting the sunset sky. There was no wind and the colour of the water almost matched the colour of the sky

Warm lights

Warm lights

I took my camera for this trip. Even though I have been here many times before you never know.

The lights from inside the cottage gave a warm atmosphere. It was just about 5 pm and pitch dark. The temperature had dropped and the snow had turned more icy.

I never saw the cottage in this light.

First picture of the year

I travelled to Eastern Finland for the beginning of the year. The forest is quite, silent. There is no wind. The snow stays on the branches of the trees. I can hear a woodpecker hitting the bark up on a tree nearby. The lake is frozen and the ice is covered by a layer of soft snow. Everything is still.

Happy new year to all of you.

Red jacket

Winter cottage

It has been snowing a lot during the last few days. The snow has brought silence in the forest. The wind has stopped blowing. There is an incredible peace if one stops for a moment to listen to the silence.

Clouds on a Finnish summer lake

Finnish lake

I took this photo from the pier of our cottage in Finland, last July. It must have been around 10:00pm. The clouds moved slowly as there was little or no wind. Enough time to capture their reflection in the calm water of the lake.

15 years, today. This is for you, with love.
