The next trip

On the train to Helsinki, 2019

Travelling again today. Off to Helsinki Vantaa. The sun is bright. The train runs smoothly. The fields have been harvested. The countryside is getting ready for the autumn.

Bicycle reflection

It has been raining hard yesterday afternoon. Today on my way to work there were still many puddles in the street. At stop at this one because I like the image of the clouds in the sky.

The pier

Togean - UnaUnaTogean - UnaUnaTogean - UnaUna

I took these photos last December when we travelled to the Togean archipealgo in the northern part of Sulawesi. We landed on a tiny island called Una Una with incredibly well preserved corals and stunning underwater visibility. I liked the pier near our basic resort and waited for people to walk on it.

Back to some colour at UnaUna!

Togean - UnaUnaTogean - UnaUnaTogean - UnaUnaTogean - UnaUna

We travelled to the Togean islands in Central Sulawesi between Christmas and new year. We landed in a small island, off from the main islands of the Togean archipelago, UnaUna.

We stayed in a small resort that was opened only a year ago. It is run by a young couple. He is from UnaUna, she is from Tampere (Finland). The wooden houses with the rooms have a Finnish flavour. Maybe it is the brown paint over the wooden planks, maybe the small porch where one can sit and watch at the sea, maybe it is the fresh bread that is baked every day, or maybe it is that on that small island, in central Indonesia, off the beaten track, I met 6 Finnish people all at once.

I travelled with my Olympus EM OMD 1, with the three MTF lenses I have, all of which fit in a small camera bag: 17mm 1,8, 45mm 1,8, 12-40mm 2,8. The resort looks to the East. When I realised that I thought that I would not take landscape pictures as I am more a sunset person. I checked the sunrise time and thought that for one day I could just wake up early. So I did. I woke up early the first morning. The light was amazing. The sea was calm, the horizon clear. The clouds low at the horizon over the Togean islands could be mistaken as islands themselves. The colour of the sky changing every minute . I used the 12-40mm lens at various focal distances. I really enjoyed the 20 minutes or so I spent there. So much so, that I woke up at sunrise almost every day. It was worth it. All of which made me think that for 2016 I want to go back to post/print some colour pictures again.

Clouds on a Finnish lake n.4

This photo was taken last July while we were at our summer cottage in Eastern Finland. I liked to wait for the time of the day when clouds would appear and create nice contrast with the water of the lake.

Clouds on a Finnish summer lake

Finnish lake

I took this photo from the pier of our cottage in Finland, last July. It must have been around 10:00pm. The clouds moved slowly as there was little or no wind. Enough time to capture their reflection in the calm water of the lake.

15 years, today. This is for you, with love.

Electricity pole in Brixton

Elecrticity pole in Brixton

There is this electricity pole in Brixton. I passed next to it every day last June, on the way back to the flat of a friend where I was staying. Looking up, to the wires and the clouds, the houses of the street disappeared and it was like this was somewhere in the country side, not in London.
