About Me

Hi, I am Arnaldo.

I am based in Tampere (Finland) and am an enthusiastic photographer and blogger. I have spent two decades working in middle and low-income countries as a researcher and consultant on democratic governance and social development. I have lived in Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia through my work. Living in these countries and travelling in many more has put me in touch with different languages and cultures.

I work as a researcher/consultant in international cooperation. My work has brought me to live for several years in Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia. In 2018 I co-founded Capability, a social enterprise focused on systems innovation and the design of adaptive portfolios to tackle complex development challenges. I write about my work on Knowledge Counts.

This blog is a journal that has evolved over the years. When I started it in 2004, I wrote mainly short posts. Then, I began adding photos to my posts at some point.

There have been long periods where I have just posted photographs with a simple title. I have had periods where I posted only black and white pictures. Sometimes when I posted only colour photos. There have been times when I did not post anything for weeks.

So, an irregular journal that has followed my life and my moods. The constant theme are the places, people, and landscapes that I have seen and where I have lived in different parts of the world and which I have described through words and photography.

I started digital photography by using a Nikon D5100 for about five years. In 2015 I began experimenting with the micro four-third with an Olympus E-PL6. I liked the format, sold the Nikon, and bought an Olympus OM-D E-M1. I now have a Panasonic G80, which is friendly and easy to use.

I edit my photos using Apple Photos. The images you see here are protected by Copyright. If you would like to have a copy, please ask. If you want to copy the photos and reproduce them or post them (digitally), please let me know, and when you do, don’t forget to quote my name and site address.
